Colchicine Uses
Colchicine 0.6mg tablets are used for the treatment the pain, swelling and inflammation of gout. Gout is caused by elevated levels of uric acid in the blood that crystallizes and deposits in joints, tendons and surrounding tissues. Gout afflicts mostly men, and mostly middle-aged ones. The most common symptom of gout is a nighttime attack of swelling, tenderness, redness, and sharp pain in the joint at the base of the big toe. You can also get gout attacks in your foot, ankle or knees.
How is Colchicine Taken
Take each dose of Colchicine 0.6mg with a full glass of water. You may take Colchicine 0.6mg up to once every hour until the pain is relieved. To prevent an attack from occurring, you may take Colchicine every day or several days a week, until the maximum amount of medicine has been taken, or until nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea occurs. Do not take more doses than your doctor prescribed.
Colchicine Precautions
Colchicine may interact with other drugs so make sure to tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines that you are taking. Talk to your doctor if you plan on becoming pregnant as Colchicine may have harmful effects on the unborn baby. Breast-Feeding women, especially, should be sure to not take Colchicine without first talking to your doctor.
Colchicine Side Effects
Possible side effects while taking Colchicine 0.6mg include: difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; fever; rash; numbness or tingling.
Colchicine Overdose
Symptoms of a colchicine overdose include nausea; vomiting; stomach pain; diarrhea; muscle weakness; burning in your throat, stomach, or skin; difficulty breathing; delirium; and seizures. An overdose of colchicine can result in death. If you suspect an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Storage
Store Colchicine at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep out of the reach of children.
